The LTGis a Tier VII Soviet Light Tank. It has an unusually thick turret and is known as the “Gavalov Tank”, is has a small profile and a decent gun. It's stealthy design makes it a good passive scout.

Although having a weird shape and design, this tank does best at passive scouting because of its low profile. It can also side hug and harass taller tanks.

The player can choose between two guns: The 85mm Zis-S 53M with its ferocious rate of fire, at the cost of some alpha damage and penetration, or the more all rounder 85mm D-5T-85BMU, with all around guns stats, sacrificing 1 second of reload for more alpha and penetration.

Even though this tank is suited for passive scouting, it does have somewhat bad view range for light tank. To negate this effect, train your crew with Recon and/or situational awareness. Then, mount Coated Optics or Binoculars.

Because the tank has literally no room in the hull for crew and other modules, the crew is all in the turret, which means any shot in the turret can kill a crew member, most likely: the driver and/or gunner. Also, the ammo rack is weaker than most tanks, and when taking shots from the sides, it will get damaged more often or even explode more often. A Wet Ammo Rack or training Safe Stowage should negate the effect.

It's worth noting that even though it is fast, it sometimes feels slower than other light tanks.

The following is spoilers and historical inaccuracy about this vehicle! The reason Wargaming did this is due to game balancing in most cases! To see, click open

  • The 85mm guns were not planned for this tank.
    • Add with that, the 75mm long barrel guns are missing.
    • The guns are also the same guns used on the T-34-85.
      • However, the 85mm D-5T-85BMU was also not planned for the T-34-85, nor the LTG
        • The 85mm D-5T-85BMU was planned for the SU-85
  • There are no records of the armor thickness values, which means Wargaming likely made up the armor thickness values.
